MIND MAPPING

Rococo { rocaille (rocks) + coquille (shells)} or "Late Baroque" is an 18th century art movement developed in France in the era of Louis XV who is not remembered by any of his achievements but by his many Mistresses.
It didn't carry a serious message; heck it didn't carry any message.

Behind this not-exactly-great masculine prodigy  was a feminine figure that drove the movement. Madame de Pompadour was an important character in this art movement. She was a fashion icon and a symbol of degenerate culture, spending money that's not hers.

Speaking of fashion, consumption of luxury was booming, despite all the efforts of the critics, ridiculous fashions prevailed.
Architecture was doing great though building churches was not an easy task as the art had no place for patriotism, no morality, saints or heroes and neither was devotional.
Lisbon's main Rococo church, Estrela Basilica, is the last major Rococo building in the city.
Looking at Rococo paintings you'll enter in a world of grace, delight, love, cheerfulness, sensuousness, games, elegance, playfulness and humour. And so it did, those soft but bright colours that gave out the most optimistic "Life is Beautiful" ambience.
